A Pimple - Again!

by Clarita Milles

If you've ever wished you could be young again to undo some of your childhood mistakes, well Nature may just have found a way to make you feel like a teenager again, but not like you had wished! You get up, ready to go to work, when it hits you! A very unattractive and attention grabbing pimple making you feel like a confused teenager again.

What's wrong with me, will most likely be your initial reaction. You were so close to feeling all grown-up and there it is, a pimple. Well, you can't very much call in sick to work, what can you do?

First, calm down. Most dermatologists will tell you, acne isn't just related to teenage skin. And then, find the acne treatment that is right for you.

Is Adult Acne really a Problem?

Adult acne seems to be a topic that few people talk about. Admittedly, adult acne seems to be an untouchable topic of conversation while adult acne scars or teenage acne are readily accepted. It, therefore, amazes no one to know that acne is directly associated to the developing stages of our life and has no place in our adult life, making it difficult for those faced with the condition. Nevertheless, that frightfully named acne condition known as acne vulgaris can also revisit us during adulthood.

Don't mistake it for another type of acne that is also known to appear in cases of adult acne - acne rosacea-. The appearance of one or both types of acne are likely to appear during adulthood.

What do you really know what Acne?

In the middle of the acne breakout is the dreaded pimple, or what's known to specialists as comedo. It's a plug of sebum mixed with skin debris and keratin (the stuff nails, hair, and skin are made of) lodged inside a hair duct.

When this plug is open we call it a blackhead and when it's closed it's known as a whitehead. Closed comedoes, better known as whiteheads, often cause the walls of the hair duct to rupture leading to redness, infection, and cysts that are common in acne.

One interesting fact is that during adolescence teenage boys will be more likely to suffer from acne scarring while girls will be more susceptible to suffer from adult acne. So, what do we recommend you to do?

Wrongly enough, most people believe that acne is a result of poor hygiene. Adult acne and teen acne are caused by a combination of several factors: hormones leading to excess oil secretion, faulty closing of the hair duct, and infection.

The Time Tested Solution

A quick solution is popping. It is effective, but doesn't come without infection and scarring. A word to the wise, squeezing or picking at pimples spreads acne infection, so you'd do best to avoid it! Your other choice is to seek medical guidance. He or she will eliminate the pimple with a sterile instrument that is specially created to prevent infection or possible scarring. But, if going to the doctor isn't something you'd consider, then there is an acne home remedy that is highly recommended.

The right treatment for adult acne will depend on which acne treatment is best for your type of acne and your skin type. Ideally, an effective acne treatment should also be able to remove scars and regenerate damaged skin. However, having to test every product out there can be exhausting and costly. This is the reason we recommend you to buy products made with natural ingredients. They are safer and more cost effective.
